Production Log #1: Electric Boogaloo

Image
Hullo there, friends! So for a while, when we released a new song, we'd upload a little mini-podcast episode on youtube to give people a bit of a look behind the scenes and talk about the song and it's creation.  Now, we largely stopped doing that because well, to be honest, we ain't got the time for it. Recording that stuff, figuring out what to do in terms of visuals, and all that stuff takes a while, and videomaking isn't exactly our passion or field of expertise, so..... eeh.  But now that we have this Blog, the idea struck us that we could do something similar to that! In fact, we could do one better! Along with a summary of our thoughts, why don't we turn it into a sort of production diary? Make an entry every time something meaningful happens in the song's creation, so that you can read our thoughts in the moment, and see how things evolve through the creative process! That could be both interesting for you, our dearest readery folks, and also potentially...

Mornin'! Nice day for a blog post, ain't it? Hah-huh! 😃 Amalia here, and it's time to chronicle our musical (and not so musical) adventures once more! So, let's get on with the....   Music stuff  Well, the last couple of weeks have been a bit slow, to be honest. We've had the idea that we should try to always work on two projects simultaneously, so that when we feel inspired, we can pick whichever project best fits our mood, rather than just working on the one and only project we have going.   The idea is that it oughta get us making music more often, but in the past couple of weeks, we've been struggling to get any projects off the ground. We did get some inspiration by playing Schedule 1 (More on that down below), and we've gotten a bit of a start on a trip-hop-ish tune, but yeah, gotta put our feet down and get some traction going.   That's kind of it for our musical stuff, this time. Electric Boogaloo is releasing this coming friday, so that'l...

Unearthing a forgotten game: Will Rock

Image
Curiously, this picture pops up as you -exit- the game, for some reason.     You know, Amalia is many things.   She's a tulpa, a friend and companion, a lover of fish and an overall interesting person.   And also, Amalia's a big nerd.   And because of that, she's got a bit of a hobby. From time to time, one of us will think of an old video game that i played, but never finished, in my younger years. And when that happens, Amalia likes to nudge me towards playing those games to completion with her.   Some examples would be games like the original Operation Flashpoint, Stubbs the Zombie, or some of the old games in the Emergency franchise.   But today, i wanna tell you about a game that we recently dug up together that you've most likely never heard of. And if you had, then you had probably forgotten.  Will Rock  So, just so you know my history with this game: A little over 20 years ago, little pennyless Michael played a lot of game demos becau...

Hello hello there, folks! Michael with you today, and it's time for another one of these bi-weekly drops!   So, well, let's get right into it and talk about our....   Musical endeavors  Well, we've sent Electric Boogaloo off to the curators on Submithub and it did...... abysmal. It's basically a good reminder for us that Submithub doesn't really work for us, to be honest.   The feedback we got was mostly the same: It's a pretty good production, an interesting mix of elements, but it just doesn't fit the curator's playlists because well, it's a bit too unusual.    That's mostly been our issue with SH, actually. And don't get me wrong, i'm not blaming the curators, either. They've built up their playlists, blogs and whatnot to the point where their audiences have certain expectations, so they can't really put up anything too weird. Amalia and i get that, but ultimately, it just means that SH doesn't really suit us as a p...
