Status Report #4: 4th of May, 2025

Hello hello there, folks! Michael with you today, and it's time for another one of these bi-weekly drops!

So, well, let's get right into it and talk about our....

Musical endeavors

Well, we've sent Electric Boogaloo off to the curators on Submithub and it did...... abysmal. It's basically a good reminder for us that Submithub doesn't really work for us, to be honest.

The feedback we got was mostly the same: It's a pretty good production, an interesting mix of elements, but it just doesn't fit the curator's playlists because well, it's a bit too unusual.

That's mostly been our issue with SH, actually. And don't get me wrong, i'm not blaming the curators, either. They've built up their playlists, blogs and whatnot to the point where their audiences have certain expectations, so they can't really put up anything too weird. Amalia and i get that, but ultimately, it just means that SH doesn't really suit us as a platform.
Probably gonna try again every now and then over the years, perhaps if we have something a bit more "normal", but yeah.

We're likely going to focus on actually making music for it's own sake for a while now, rather than marketing.
Honestly, we'd rather slowly build up like 50 regular listeners who are actually engaged and like our stuff, than just getting some big number through marketing, where half of them are probably just bots crawling the web, and the other half are just zapping past our channels without taking real notice.

Though yeah, anywho. Work on our next song has yet to start properly. We had a bit of an idea going, but it fell out of favor. Currently looking to start work on something a bit more jazzy than usual. I really want an upright bass in it, and Amalia suggests that we could double that up with our bass guitar, too. Sounds funky. 😉

In other news, we've been looking into some DJ-stuff. Not that we're planning to pivot towards working clubs or something, but because adding some scratchin' capabilities to our arsenal seems like a cool move.

Pleasantly, it turns out that when you're an active musician, that stuff isn't so complicated. I mean, i'm sure it can -get- complicated, but it's not like we're looking to get super-expensive gear and become absolute masters of the craft or anything like that. 😛

But yeah, that's pretty much it for our Musical activities.
Now, onto our...

Non-musical-stuff

Not actually a lot to report on that front. Been a quiet couple of weeks. Went out hiking a couple of times on account of the ludicrously nice weather, played a few games and watched some Starsky and Hutch.

Just Starsky and Hutch. We decided to watch those old shows we got one after the other, rather than just watching whichever one we're in the mood for on a given day.
Because trying to remember where you were in 3 shows, when each of them is in a ~40 DVD box set, is rather difficult as it turns out. 😏

Oh, small thing of note, actually. See, Amalia has a bit of a curious habit of nudging me towards playing (and finishing) old games that i played as a kid but never finished. We went and collected a few of those old games on GOG and Steam. Expect some likely Blog posts about old video games, here and there. 😉

But yeah, i figure that's us for the day.
Have a good one, and see you next time! 😀
