Status Report #13: 21st of September, 2025

Angry fish, 12 o' clock!

Goooood morning folks!

Michael here, with you for another one of our bi-weekly status reports!

Been a pretty decent couple of weeks for us, so let's get started on...

The music/blog stuff!

And to begin with, the slump we were in during our last post is quite over! We've been chipping away at our next tune, adding to it in bits.

Just yesterday, we recorded some more lyrics and played some tambourine.

Though also, over the last few weeks, we've been sort of reorganizing things, establishing better routines in our day-to-day, and generally trying to get the most out of our time, and so we started doing something we've been neglecting for a good while.

~Practice!~

Yeees. See, over time, the time we spend on music drifted more and more towards actively composing, which meant that in turn, we took less and less time for practise, or just playing for fun.

But now, with our new and improved routine and mindset, we're not only spending more time on musical stuff, but also reserving some of that time for just straight-up practice and experimentation.

So that's quite nice. We might actually get better! 😉

One thing we need to work on with our next tune is length. What we've got currently is pretty cool, but not even 2 minutes long. Now, not every tune needs to be 5 minutes, but y'know, less than 2 minutes doesn't really feel right. We'll want to add to it.

Though yeah, not much to report on the blogging front, to be honest. We're thinking of playing another old game from my childhood to post about, though this one's definitely not one we're gonna fully finish before we post. ('s more of a sandbox-style game.)

Other than that, we've been busy writing stuff for other, non-public purposes, so until that's done, we'll have less time to write on here. Though that other stuff -is- nearly done, so that might change quite soon. ;)

But yeah, that's our *content creator* stuff out of the way, so now let's go all journal-entry and talk about...

Private stuff!

Okay, so you might be wondering why there's an F-86 Sabre at the top of the post.

Well, as you might be aware, Amalia and i are into flight sims. Normally civilian planes in MSFS 2024, but lately, we've been feeling a bit of an itch to go dakkadakka.

First we dug up IL-2 Great Battles, but i dunno, we don't really jam with WW2 aviation. So instead, we went for DCS.

Now, we've not been active in DCS for the last 5+ years, so immediately, some of the newer modules, like the Hind or the Phantom, gave us an enticing wink and presented a clear and present danger to our wallet.

Resisting temptation, we've been easing ourselves back in by practising with the F-5E, seeing how we like the sim. It's going well, so far. It's nice to have a flight sim that's much more involved and intense than sitting there and flying in a straight line. Though of course, it's not like civilian flight sims are suddenly bad or anything.

But! Something frankly unbelievable happened!

So we decide to look into DCS after a solid few years of not really keeping a close eye on it, and what happens? On *THE DAY* we look into it, this comes out:

Oh heck.

Maybe we should lock our bank account just to be safe.

Well in any case, that's what we're doing simulator-wise. In terms of books and gaming, we actually have a rare bit of overlap! When we find the time, we're playing Mechwarrior 5, which recently got the Shadow of Kerensky clan expansion, and to go with it, we're reading our first Battletech book!

It's called "Wolves on the Border" by Robert N. Charette, and it's about a house Kurita mechwarrior who is assigned a liaison post with the Wolf's Dragoons.

..... or, if you're unfamiliar with Battletech, the game's got big mechs going pew pew at each other, and the book has some of that too, but with more talking and stuff. 😜

Though yeah, we're both fairly fond of how Battletech presents itself as a semi-realistic, or at least somewhat plausible sci-fi universe.

It's actually a breath of fresh air from 40k's ultra-maximalism, with ships warping through hell, space magic and what have you.

But yeh, i think that's about all we've got to say, this time around. Hoping that your couple of weeks have been as good as ours, and that it'll continue like that!

So, until our next post dear reader, have a good one!
