Status Report #14: 6th of October, 2025

Beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep!

Grrrreetings there, folks! Don't you look at the date! This post is definitely not late!

Nonono! It's totally sunday, honest! We didn't get wrapped up in other stuff and forgot to post our status report! All is well. 😉

...... well, actually, you might be pleased to hear that at least the stuff we got so wrapped up in was...

Musical stuff!

Yes indeed! We genuinely forgot because Michael got carried away writing some piano parts for Filetattura di Scarto. Good parts, too!

In fact, some of the last parts that needed adding! We made great progress on the tune, this last fortnight, and we're now going to be moving firmly into the "production"-part of the process, with composition being pretty much wrapped up! 😄

Don't get us wrong, here, it's not like the song is about to release, but y'know, it's progressing well!

In other positive news, our new and improved routine's been paying off, and we've been much more diligently practising. Honing our musical skills and what have you.

So all in all, our musical endeavours have been going healthily and vigorously, these past couple of weeks. But then, what about our...

Un-Musical stuff?

Well, it's actually quite simple. These past two weeks, our minds have been utterly consumed by DCS.

That's Digital Combat Simulator, for those of you not in the know. A military flight sim focussing mainly on cold war to modern jets and helicopters. (And some WW2 stuff, but that ain't really our jam.)

We recently started getting really interested in it because on paper, military flight sims are much more engaging and involved than civilian ones. We've been occasionally dipping our toes over the years, but never really got too far with it. Right now seems to be the right time to get into it, though.

It's also on steam, and the Autumn sale happened last week. Errr, this week, i mean. 😜

So uh..... we now own the Mi-24P Hind, the upgraded version of the KA-50 and the F-16C, along with a few other modules we already had from before.

In fact, we've been eyeing the F-4 Phantom, AH-64 Apache and Mirage F-1 as well, but while the temptation is strong, one nice thing with DCS is that each and every module is so mega-detailed and complex that you can spend months studying the things.

Not to suddenly turn sour on good old MSFS or anything, but in terms of quality and complexity, DCS is just in a different league.

..... which means that the strong temptation to collect aircraft modules like they were free (they very much aren't) is luckily fairly easy to resist, because hey, by the time the next big sale rolls around, we probably won't even have mastered those machines we already have. So we might as well hold off on any more purchases.

...... Phantom really is quite the thing, though. Mmmmh- No!

Nonono! We've got our hands full learning a soviet sky-bus and a USAF multirole spaceship already! 😛

It really *is* a bus, you know. Pneumatic brakes that go "tshhh" and all!

.... but yeah, aside from the plane-stuff, we did play some vidya games. Mostly still Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, which strangely is getting better and better as we play it. Must be the growing variety of cool 'mechs. But yeah, having a blast with that one, and we also recently started on Apollo Justice: Ace Attourney!

...... Oh yeah, we really like the Ace Attourney games. We played the original trilogy together, as well as the Victorian spinoff games. The Apollo Justice trilogy meanwhile, we sorta saved for a while. Same goes for investigations.

..... but yeah, that's us for the time being, i'd say.

So, until the next time dear readers, stay safe, don't buy too many aircraft modules, and have a good one! 😉
