Status Report #20: 28th of December, 2025

Gooooooood morning! Or afternoon, or evening.

Michael here, and it's that time again. That time where we go writing about stuff because a fortnight's passed since we last did so!

So let's get into some of that, one last time this year!

Active projects!

Good news! Our next musical project is now getting properly underway. We struggled a bit to find a proper rhythm for it. Literally, we were floundering with our choice of percussion, but Amalia's had a breakthrough the other day and the tune is now properly on track. It has a vibe, now. A groove, if you will!😎

Besides that, you'll have seen Chapter 2 of Planet Zoo's Casualia Parks series, along with this little experiment of ours:

's really just meant to be a test of the cinematic camera stuff. The series won't turn into a YouTube let's play or anything. Buuuut on some of the bigger milestones, we might just do something like that again. Just more refined.

Anyhow, our gameplay for Chapter 3 is already underway. There's some new animals, so we're looking forward to writing up and sharing that!

There's also a new-year's post about resolutions and stuff coming around on the 1st, so if you find yourself in the mood to start the year with a little look into our corner of the internet, you're welcome.😉

Well, that's pretty much all we've got to say about projects for the time being, so let's talk about...

Life stuff!

And it's good news there, too!

We managed to do it! We managed to finish Mechwarrior 5 and all of the DLC expansions in one big save-file! Finally!😁

Got to pilot a Dire Wolf. Best boi.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like the game was a slog or anything. In fact, it had a big second wind partway through, then a third and even a fourth one when we got to the clan invasion expansion! But nonetheless, it's a big ol' game, and after playing mainly just this one game for like..... 3 months? Maybe 4? We're happy to say that we're done and can move on to other stuff, even if we did thoroughly enjoy our time with MW5.

This means there's more time for Planet Zoo of course, but we've also moved on to another game on our to-do list:

Teardown!

You probably know it. It's one of those magical indie games with "Overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam. One of those games that everyone just seems to love.

You know, that thing that AAA-devs can't seem to do now because their games are all just about financial exploitation.😜

And yeah, we're totally onboard! The muted colour palette and some very snazzy depth of field effects create an almost hypnotic look, where each frame almost looks like like a painting, except it's all voxel graphics.

The music and sound all work really nicely to build an atmosphere and the gameplay is...... yeah, y'know what, we'll stow that. You might well see us writing a full blog post about this game, further down the line, so we'll save it for that.

Suffice it to say that we're having a grand time with it. Admittedly, that's partially down to focusing mainly on one game for a quarter of a year, so it's just nice to have something fresh, but fortunately, the game we've picked also happens to be brilliant.

Also, it's nowhere near as long as MW5, even with all the DLCs.😉

Aside from that, for Christmas, as planned, i got us started on one of the new aircraft we bought during black friday for DCS.

(Amalia's also got one reserved for herself too, but her turn will be on the 7th of January. Her birthday.)

'twas a quiet, peaceful Christmas eve, and while elsewhere, children were happily unwrapping gifts under the tree, we were cozy together, saying things like:

"Whoo, we're controlling a 30mm cannon with our face!"

or

"Pretty fun watching George blow stuff up while we just focus on flying the chopper."

or

"Holy cow, we can use FLIR to see -through-the cockpit!"

Yeees. Finally getting our helicopter-fix, again. Been a while, and since we only have so much time for DCS, we can't really fly every machine, so we wanted to pick either this one or the Hind.

Now, the Hind -does- look and sound better, but the Apache can just do more in a combat scenario, which makes it more enjoyable. Sure, the Hind can carry infantry and even sling-load cargo, but how often are 'ya actually gonna do that stuff in a sim?

We'd rather have FLIR, a fire control radar and of course, the swivel cannon. Honestly, the swivel cannon alone is worth it's own weight in gold.😜

But yeah, that'll be about it for this report. Good times all around, really. And we've got a whole second week off work, too, so there's plenty of time to get more good stuff done (Really wanna work our new tune, and also on Casualia Parks)!

Happy times.😊

Well, hopefully you're having some of those, too. We'll see you next year, dear readers, and until then, havagoodun'!😉
