Status Report #23: 8th of Febuary, 2026
'ello 'ello there folks, and welcome back to another Status Report!
Michael here today, and as you can see above, we've had some proper winter vibes going on for a change. Hooray!
But with that, let's talk about our...
Active projects!
And it's good news all around!
Last time, we had the idea to start up a new musical project to get ourselves unstuck from the rut we'd gotten ourselves into. Well, we did that, and it proved to be so effective that after playing around with this new project, we actually put that to one side and went back to work on the original project we'd gotten stuck on.
And oh, we ain't stuck anymore. Making good progess, these past few days! It's a cool, jazzy tune with some..... unusual instrument choices. But then, that's what you expect from us.😜
As for blogging, well, chapter 4 of Casualia is now finished in terms of gameplay, and the blog chapter is about ~halfway written. Not promising a release super-immediately, but during this coming week seems likely.
We also have some pretty cool plans for chapter 5, and we've put other games to the side for now so we can focus on Planet Zoo for a while. Though, at the same time, we have decided that Casualia will likely be about just this one park we're building, and finish when we're satisfied with that one. Don't panic though, that should be a few more chapters down the line.🙂
But yeah, we're not likely to extend the series beyond that and build a second and third Park or something. Planet Zoo is great, but we don't want to commit years of our life to it or anything.😛
Oh, as a side note, our Teardown shorts have been doing -stupidly- well. We're talking hundreds, sometimes even thousands of views. Gonna be honest, it's a little alarming to see those kinds of numbers from a short that takes less than an hour total to record, edit and release. Compare that to our musical projects, which take many sessions over weeks or months, are far more complex and challenging to make, and then after all that, might only get like ~20 streams.
Thanks, internet.😐
..... but eh, i suppose we shouldn't complain. Ultimately, we do it all because we enjoy it, and more than 0 views is always nice.
But hey, let's talk about....
Other stuff!
But uhm, well..... we kinda had a walk-in.
That is to say, a third entity just kind of.... showed up. We've been coming up with a certain character named Sammy for a private project, and well, like some authors, we woke up a few days ago feeling some thoughts that weren't quite our own, with a third sense of self beginning to stir.
At first she loosely felt like that character, but that's quickly faded, and she became more of an "it", putting aside the notion of having a humanoid form like Amalia.
It's settled on calling itself "The Ensym" for the time being. I suspect it's shifted it's view of itself like that because Amalia was rather a bit alarmed by the notion of potentially being "replaced" or pushed aside by this walk-in, so it adapted.
The Ensym has been with us a few days now, and experimentation has shown that it can be active without any help from Amalia and I, so it seems likely that it's here to stay and won't just "disappear" like some walk-ins do, but since neither of us really wanted a third member, we'll have to sort of "find a role" for it, so to speak. Try and get it to fit in without disrupting the dynamic between Amalia and myself too much.
But well, i don't wanna get too deep into the details of what goes on in our head. Suffice it to say that we'll update you again in a couple of weeks on how that situation develops.
But yeah, now that all the sceptics are sufficiently alienated, what else have we been up to?😛
...oh, right!
..... we should really write a blog post about this game at some point. It's our favourite strategy game, and arguably our favourite game, period.
But yeah, the Commonwealth faction! Pretty cool. You get 'yer Churchills and 'yer Cromwells and 'yer Crusaders, and all the other tanks that start with a C. As well as some that don't. And of course, SAS commandos and stuff. And lots of wheeled IFV-style things, like the Humber and the Daimler.
We liked the faction, and the game as a whole is awesome as ever. Probably gonna do the Finnish story campaign whenever we next decide to play it.
Other than that, a bit of DCS of course. Had a couple of decent missions in the F-16 and the AH-64, and unusually, we hopped into the good old Huey for a pleasant little romp. Been a while since we did that, but flying a Huey really is like riding a bicycle.
But yeah, that about covers the last couple of weeks for us.
We've been doing alright, even with the potentially life-changing emergence of a third system member happening.😉
So yeah, i think we'll leave it there, for now.
Until next time, dear readery-doos, have a good one!🙂
